First Youth Tournament of 2009 at Mashpee Wakeby Thank you for the outstanding support from all of the boat captains who showed up to the first tournament; without your support this program would not be able to happen. Thank you also to everyone who helped out. Special thanks go out to Bob Rivet and Tom Derosier for their help with registration and taking pictures. Thanks to Scott Littlefield for cooking. Also, thanks to Brian Canada for taking pictures. The first tournament of the 2009 season proved to be a beautiful day. What a difference from the tournament at Mashpee last year! Most kids brought fish to the scales but only a few limits were caught. Regardless, it was a great day on the lake, and the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves. We had 33 kids participating in the tournament - thanks to all who attended! As usual, we provided a cookout for anglers and families. We also handed off raffle tickets to the kids for two individual prizes of mustang sospenders which will be raffled at the last tournament. Each angler will get a ticket for each tournament they attend. We also handed out gallons of oil for all the boaters. We did something new at this weigh in which we will continue at all future weigh ins. We passed out trash bags and had the kids do a ramp clean up while we tallied the weights. The kids collected four bags of trash – great job! Congratulations to the top 3 in each division. They were: Beginner Division – With the biggest bag of the day in his very first tournament, first place went to Tom Anderson who weighed in 15.17 lbs. What a way to start an angling career. Tom also caught small mouth lunker and biggest fish of the day weighing a whopping 4.25 lbs. Way to go Tom! Second place went to Cody Barry with a nice bag as usual, totaling 7.59 lbs. Third place went to Philip Conigliaro with 5.84 lbs. It was also Phil’s first tournament. All should be proud of their accomplishments. Junior Division – First place went to Justin Canada with a 5 fish limit weighing 9.15 lbs. It must have been the new Canada shirt he wore. Good job Justin. Second place went to William Conigliaro at his first tournament, with 3 fish and a total weight of 8.92 lbs. Third place went to Patrick Wentworth, weighing in 2 fish for 7.25 lbs. Great job to the junior division. Senior Division – First place went to Rob Ramacsi with a nice 5 fish limit weight 13.46 lbs. Second place went to Ryan Strom with another 5 fish limit weighing 10.99 lbs. In third place was Alex Bean with 3 fish weighing 6.73 lbs. Alex also caught lunker large mouth of 3.71 lbs. Congratulations to all winners - Great job! The points from this tournament along with the Webster tournament from 2008 and the next one at Cochituate on June 20th will determine our junior and senior anglers who will represent Massachusetts at the Nationals.
