Youth Tournament August 15th at Connecticut River Oxbow Our second tournament of the 2009/2010 season turned out to be a tough tournament. Not only was the fishing tough, but the ramp and parking situation made it a real challenge. After all was said and done, the kids ended up having a fun day, persevering through tough conditions on the water. Unfortunately, there was more fishing than catching, but as usual some kids can always manage to find the fish. Thank you as always for the support of the boat captains and to everyone who helped out. We ended up a couple boats short, but managed to scramble up a couple of last minute boats, thanks to the help of Mike from Baystate and the Cousineau boys. After the tournament, we provided a cookout for anglers and their families. We also raffled off lots of prizes including 2 Mustang PFDs donated by the federation and some bass pro shop gift cards donated by Buzzard’s Luck Bass Club amongst many other prizes. Thanks again to everyone who helped out. Congratulations to the top 3 in each division. They were: Beginner Division – Will Blanchard came in first place with 1 fish weighing 1.73 lbs. Second place went to Nate Lacombe who caught 1 fish totaling 1.28 lbs. Junior Division – First place went to Patrick Wentworth, who caught the only 5 fish limit of the day, weighing 6.15 lbs. It looks like we sent the right Junior to the Nationals-this kid can catch fish! Second place went to Andrew Blanchard with 2 fish weighing 4.20, and 3rd place went to Greg Carlson with 2 fish weighing 3.59 lbs. Senior Division – First place went to Rob Ramasci once again, with 2 fish weighing 5.89 lbs and the tournament lunker, again with a 3.84 lb fatty. Rob also just got back from the nationals, another consistent Mass youth angler, who we again counted on to represent the state of Massachusetts. Great job Rob! Second place went to Justin Canada weighing in 2 fish for 4.66 lbs. In third place was Steven Littlefield with 2 fish weighing in at 3.18 lbs. Congratulations to all winners - Great job!
